The Uyuni Salt Flats Essential 2 Days is a semi-private tour designed for travelers who want to experience the Salar de Uyuni and the Altiplano without the rush of the standard 3-day shared tour.
In a 4x4 vehicle with a maximum of 4 passengers, you will visit a high-altitude lagoon with Andean flamingos, the Valley of Rocks, a wetland area with local wildlife, and the main highlights of the Uyuni Salt Flats. The pace is more relaxed and the accommodation is better than on the typical budget tours sold in Uyuni.

Departure from Uyuni at 10:30 a.m. We head south to the village of San Cristóbal, where we visit the exterior of its colonial church and learn about the history of the area and its connection with open-pit mining.
After lunch, we continue to the Valley of Rocks to see the natural rock formations shaped by wind and erosion. We then visit Laguna Cachi, a high-altitude lake home to Andean flamingos, and Pampa Alota, a wetland area where we can observe local wildlife in its natural habitat.
We return to San Cristóbal for overnight accommodation.

After breakfast, we begin the return journey to Uyuni. We stop at the Train Cemetery and the community of Colchani, where we visit the artisan salt-processing facilities and see local handicrafts.
We enter the Uyuni Salt Flats and visit the Salt Eyes and the First Salt Hotel (now a museum), including the Flag Square. At midday we enjoy a picnic lunch on the salt flat.
In the afternoon we visit Incahuasi Island. We hike approximately 45 minutes to the summit, where we can observe giant cacti, marine fossils, and panoramic views of the salt flat. We finish the day with a sunset toast before returning to Uyuni, arriving at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The itinerary may be modified without prior notice due to weather conditions.

Most visitors to Uyuni take the standard 3-day shared tour that travels deep into the southern Altiplano. This option is different.
The Uyuni Salt Flats Essential 2 Days is designed for travelers who want a more comfortable experience with fewer people, without committing to a full 3-day itinerary. You still see the main highlights of the salt flat and a representative section of the Altiplano (lagoon with flamingos, rock formations, and wetlands), but at a more relaxed pace and with better accommodation than the basic hostels used on budget tours.
